Build A Doll Bed

Doll beds are adorable, but they can cost a ridiculous amount to purchase. The price is rather silly when you consider how easy it is to make a doll bed at home. Building your own doll bed not only lets you control the exact look, it recycles scrap materials and lets you express creativity. It's also a way to get your daughter involved with the project. Let her choose the colors, materials and decorations to truly make the doll bed her own.

Instructions

1. Lay garbage bag on a flat surface outside. Place the shoebox lid and shoebox on the bag. Place the openings of the lid and the box facing down, so that the top of the lid and the bottom of the box are facing up.

2. Use a water-proof and durable spraypaint to lightly paint the lid and box. Make sure to cover the sides as well. Let the paint dry. Apply a second coat if necessary and let dry.

3. Turn the shoebox lid into a doll bed's headboard. Place the lid, short side to the floor, up against a short side of the box. The lid top should be facing the bed, with the underside of the lid facing the wall. Use an ample amount of craft glue to secure the lid to the box, or headboard to the bed. Let dry.

4. Add any desired decorations, such as gluing a fake butterfly to the headboard. You can also glue beads, gems and plastic flowers to the headboard. If the bed needs a little more decoration, let your daughter use stickers, stamps, paints or markers to decorate the headboard and sides of the bed.

5. Place doll blanket over the shoebox and a doll pillow against the shoebox lid.
