Get Off Slave Collars On "Fallout New Vegas"

In "Fallout: New Vegas," slaves of the Caesar's Legion gang wear special collars packed with explosive powder. If a slave escapes or moves too far away from his owners, Caesar's Legion detonates the collar, killing the slave instantly. When you visit the Caesar's Legion hideout, you find a pen full of slaves. A man called Canyon Runner monitors the slaves. If you buy a slave, Canyon Runner removes the slave's collar. Alternatively, a character with a high Explosives skill can disarm and remove collars to set the slaves free.

Instructions

1. Head to the southeast Mojave Desert and approach Cottonwood Cove. If you are traveling with a companion who hates Caesar's Legion, like Boone, tell him to wait for you until you return. Otherwise, the companion may leave you when you enter the camp.

2. Walk up to the slave pen. If you want to buy a slave to take off his collar, talk to Canyon Runner. Give the slave master 300 caps per slave you want to buy. If you have a Speech skill of 50 or higher, the slave master reduces the price to 150 caps.

3. Break into the slave pen if you do not want to pay for the slaves. Pickpocket the slave pen key from the slave master and use it to open the gate. Alternatively, break into the gate if you have a Lockpick skill of 75 or higher.

4. Approach a slave and talk to him. If you have an Explosives skill of 50 or higher, the option to remove the collar appears. Select this option to take off the collar and free the slave.
