Donate Beds In Oregon

Several charitable organizations will accept your used bed donation.

If you are replacing some of the furniture in your bedrooms at home in Oregon, you may not have room to keep the used beds. Instead of trying to sell the beds at a yard sale or putting them in storage, you can donate the beds to a charitable organization. Organizations that accept bed donations are found throughout the state. You can even claim the donation on your taxes if you want to lower your tax burden. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Inspect the beds that you want to donate to determine their condition. Usually beds cannot be donated in Oregon, or any other state, unless they are clean and usable.

2. Contact a charitable organization in your area of Oregon to confirm that bed donations are currently being accepted. This is important because some places do not accept wooden beds. If you have a mattress to donate with the bed, keep in mind that not all organizations will accept the mattress. Some organizations in Oregon that do accept bed donations include Goodwill, the Salvation Army and Community Warehouse in Portland. You can look for more organizations in your local area or on the Oprah website.

3. Take your bed to the organization if you can get it there yourself. Some charities, such as the Salvation Army, offer a free pick up service. Other organizations, such as Community Warehouse, may offer a pick up for a small fee to offset the cost.

4. Ask the donation center representative for a donation receipt if you intend to claim the donation on your taxes. If you are having the beds picked up, you can get the receipt from the truck driver.
