Cover A Foot Stool

You can make an old foot stool new again when you learn cover it with fabric. It's a quick and easy way to give an old piece of furniture new life or to give a subtle lift to a dingy room! Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Find a foot stool that you want to cover with new fabric.

2. Take out the staples or tacks from the underside of the foot stool and carefully remove the old fabric.

3. Remove any old padding that you find under the fabric. If it's not too flattened or disintegrated, save it to re-use. If it's beyond repair, purchase foam or furniture padding at a hobby/fabric store and cut to fit.

4. Choose new fabric for your foot stool. Pick thick fabric that is made for furniture, as the foot stool will get a lot of wear and tear.

5. Using the old fabric as a guide, cut a piece of the new fabric big enough for the foot stool.

6. If the foot stool did not have fabric on it, cut a piece of the new fabric that is large enough to fold under the stool. Cut out a matching piece of padding. Don't forget to account for extra space in the fabric for the padding.

7. Stretch the new fabric over the foot stool and the padding. Secure to the underside of the stool with heavy-duty staples or fabric tacks.
