Many organizations and ministries accept used Bible materials.
Ministries and charitable organizations often accept used or unneeded Bible materials from individuals or churches. Sometimes these include old Vacation Bible School curriculum, worn-out Bibles, outdated periodicals, sermons on DVD and literature. Depending on the organization to whom you are giving -- you may or may not be able to donate all of your used Bible materials -- as they might not have a use for them. Check that the denomination or beliefs exhibited in the materials you are donating align with the organization's beliefs before sending them, as they might not be able to use materials that contradict their teachings.
Instructions
1. Seek out an organization to whom you wish to donate. Popular examples include churches, missionaries, prison ministries, youth ministries, non-profit organizations, homeless shelters and shelters for abused women and children.
2. Ask the organization if they accept donations. Inform them as to what type of Bible materials you plan to donate. Note that not all organizations and ministries can accept non-monetary donations.
3. Check online to see if the ministry has a website. If they do, look for a page detailing instructions regarding donations. Many ministries list acceptable materials on this page, which saves both you and the organization time and hassle when choosing materials to give away.
4. Find out, either on the website or by calling the ministry's office, how the ministry would like to accept the donations. Those who are out of driving distance may request that you pay shipping to donate the materials. Those within driving distance might ask that you bring them to a staffed location during certain business hours.
5. Alert the organization that you plan to donate materials. Some wish to have someone on hand to accept the materials. Others might have a staff member unlock a door ahead of time, so you can drop off the donations without anyone on location, and without leaving them outside the building.
