In "Resident Evil 4," you play Leon S. Kennedy--who was a police officer in "Resident Evil 2" and in this game has become a government operative. His first mission is to rescue the President's daughter who has been kidnapped. Unlike the previous games where you fought zombies created by the Umbrella Corporation, in "Resident Evil 4" you fight ganados: smarter than zombies and more deadly. Various unlockable features appear throughout the game as well as additional game play modes that open when you beat the story mode game (including Assignment Ada, Separate Ways and Mercenaries).
Instructions
1. Select your character. When you first start playing The Mercenaries mini-game, you play as Leon. You will need to get at least four stars or 30,000 points in a stage or area to unlock a new character. There are four other characters you must unlock to beat the mini-game.
2. Choose a stage or area to play in; you have four to choose from. You need to last for at least two minutes in whatever stage you choose. If you get a lot of points but die before the time runs out, you lose your points.
3. Find hour glasses to earn bonus time of between 30 and 90 seconds. Each stage contains multiple hour glasses. An orange pillar of light will show you where an hour glass is. You want to find as many hour glasses as you can because more time equals more kills, which equals a higher score.
4. Look for treasure chests. They are not marked on the map but you can find them easily. Open the treasure chests and you'll find a special hour glass that will give you a bonus or power up; within the next 30 seconds, all kills you make will be worth 1,000 points.
5. Kill as many enemies in as short a time as possible. The stronger the enemy the more points you'll earn. With each kill, a counter will pop up in the upper right corner of your screen. You'll have about 5 seconds to make another kill to earn bonus points. The more successive kills you make in that 5-second window, the more bonus points you'll be awarded.
6. Group your enemies together to make them easier to deal with and you can kill multiple ganados at the same time. Run around and get a bunch of them on your tail, then when you are about to be snagged, use whatever mass-attack weapon you have in your arsenal to take them all down.
7. Get five stars on all stages, using each character to unlock the hand cannon for the story mode.
