Customize A Sidebar Border On Twitter

Twitter is an effective marketing tool, especially when it comes to businesses that are looking for a way to reach their customers. A custom Twitter background acts as a virtual business card. It gives followers more information than the small "Bio" field in the sidebar will allow. Tailor the Twitter profile page with signature colors, a corporate logo and extra information about yourself or your company to help followers identify your brand. A profile page is often the potential follower's first impression of you; always make sure it reflects what you want to represent.

Instructions

1. Log in to Twitter and click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.

2. Select the "Design" link located at the right-hand side of the navigation bar.

3. Select the "Change background image" button to upload your own images.

4. Locate the image that you want to use for the background. Twitter accepts images in .jpg, .gif or .png format; the image size can be no larger than 800kb. Use photo editing software to resize the image if it is too large.

5. Select "Save." The new background will immediately appear on the profile page.

6. Select the "Change design colors" link. Use the available HTML hex palette to select colors you want to use for the links, text, background, sidebar border and sidebar. If you are using a background image, you have to choose a background color that will appear in case your image does not display or the background image repeats on a large monitor. Make sure the colors you choose coordinate with the background image to provide a cohesive look.

7. Select "Save changes," checking that all the colors and background image are appearing correctly.
