The Furniture Bank
Founded in 1992 by Oli Mohammed, the Furniture Bank provides gently used furniture to individuals who are mentally ill, as well as homeless families that receive housing assistance. It was state-funded until 2003, when funding was pulled from the program. It is now independent and services over 70 charitable agencies in the Houston area. Over its lifetime, the Furniture Bank has helped veterans, disabled citizens, victims of domestic abuse and senior citizens on limited incomes. Helping Hands Charity
In addition to vehicles and appliances, Helping Hands Charity accepts furniture to assist the needy. This non-profit organization provides assistance to those in need or in crisis, and offers a pickup service throughout Houston for your donations. It doesn't matter if your location is upstairs or downstairs, inside or outside; the charity will get your furniture as long as it's usable.

Goodwill
Founded in 1902 in Boston by a Methodist minister named Edgar J. Helms, Goodwill has now grown to over 200 cities in the U.S., with 40 additional associations established around the world. The Houston chapter was established in 1945, and has helped people become productive members of society with jobs throughout the organization. This process depends on your charitable donations, which are resold in Goodwill stores with proceeds going to help those in need. Goodwill Houston does not have a pickup service, but has attended donation centers and stores that accept used furniture.
