Home Entertainment Center Ideas

A home entertainment center can be designed just the way you like.

Home entertainment centers are available in various styles and configurations. In deciding what kind of entertainment center to get, consider the room where it will be used. A family room entertainment center will most likely have a different functionality than one in a sitting room. For instance, you may want the TV screen to be visible in the family room but not in the sitting room. You may decide to purchase a certain home entertainment center because you like the way it looks. Or, you may buy one to fit in with the colors and design of an existing room. Does this Spark an idea?

Framed

A flat-panel television screen can be framed to match the d cor of the room. It will give a lovely focal point when hung above a fireplace. When the TV is on, it will look visually appealing with the frame around it. When the TV is off, it will appear to be just a frame on the wall. DVDs, CDs and games can be tucked away in media cabinets on both sides of the television.

Cabinet Unit

Use one long cabinet unit that spans an entire wall of your room. The cabinet may have solid wood doors or glass doors, which allow you to see some of your components. The cabinet will provide ample space to store multiple items. Mount your television, in a centered position, on the wall above your cabinet unit. Place interesting items, photos and collectibles on top of your cabinet to decorate it.

Hidden TV

If want your television to be hidden from view, a single-unit entertainment center is a functional option. Many single-units feature panel doors that provide you the option to either hide the TV or to open and recess the doors inside the unit to allow display the TV. The single-unit may have open spaces and shelves to allow you to decorate with accessories and other items. Some even have lighting to showcase your items on the shelves.

Built-In

An entertainment center can be built into a wall to suit your entertainment needs. The top portion of your built-in unit is generally where you place your television so that it can be easily seen. The top section may also have open shelves or cabinets. The bottom section can be the ideal place to store your media components and items you want out of plain view. If you have your own built-in unit designed, it will give you a high level of flexibility in creating a home entertainment center that is perfect for you.
