Diy Making Log Furniture

You can use logs to build furniture.

Making log furniture will give your home a rustic look. Log furniture is also popular outside, in the wood's natural environment. The logs match the surrounding trees. You can make log furniture in a variety of ways. Some people, for example, strip the wood of its bark, while others leave the bark on. This is a personal preference. It is easy to remove the bark with strap metal and a sander. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Draw or buy a plan of the specific piece of furniture you want to make. This should include the measurements of all the sections of the piece of furniture.

2. Remove the bark from your logs by using a strap metal piece and scraping it down from a crevice in the bark. This will strip it with ease.

3. Cut the logs to various lengths with a table saw in accordance with your design. Make as smooth and even cuts as possible.

4. Power sand the logs until they are the desired texture. Move around corners at a 45-degree angle and angle the sander back and forth to round the edges.

5. Assemble the wood with wood screws and wood glue. Attach the pieces according to your design. Cover the screw holes with wood filler. This will prevent the screw heads from showing.

6. Let the glue dry for four hours.

7. Apply a wood stain to the surface. Apply lightly in crevices and cracks, as well as on areas on the logs that have pores. The stain will be darker in those areas.
