Looking for work
Getting a job when you have no experience can be very tough, but you can do it. Having no experience should not keep you from getting a job that you would be happy to do. Here are some tips:
Instructions
1. Before you even apply for a job, you need to get yourself prepared. That means, having a perfect resume. You are probably thinking, how can I write a resume if I have no experience. Well, a resume is more than just a list of jobs you have had, it is an example of yourself. If your resume is concise, well thought out, professional looking, correct grammar and no typos, it will represent you in a positive light. Any part time jobs that you have had in the past, any time you have explained or taught someone do something in your chosen field, for example, if you want to be a computer technician and you have fixed friends and families computers for free, you can put on your resume. If you are still stumped then have someone do the resume for you.
2. Dress accordingly. Most people don't wear a suit to an interview anymore, but don't let that stop you. You are showing you are serious about the position and you are showing respect to the interviewer by wearing a suit. At least wear dress pants and tie or a pant suit or dress.
3. Be frank during the interview and tell the employer that you are aware you are lacking in experience, but will more than make it up with enthusiasm. Explain that you are a quick learner and would be an asset.
4. Send the employer a thank you card for the interview and follow up with a call to the employer to see if they have hired for the position. I have seen one applicant beat out another just because they kept showing interest in the job.
5. Do not have sour grapes if the position gets filled. Be cheerful and say, if anything comes up in the future, please give you a call. I have seen it happen more than once where the first applicant didn't work out and they hired the second choice because they were so mature when they found out they didn't get the job.
