Enemy Weaknesses In "Mass Effect 2"

You will encounter a variety of colorful and unique enemies as you play through Bioware's epic space opera game "Mass Effect 2." Some of them will fly, a few of them will crawl, but they all have on thing in common: They want to introduce something sharp and metal into your character's squishy bits. You can prevent that from happening by knowing your enemy's weaknesses and exploiting them with your own weapons or abilities.

Tech Abilities

Tech abilities are devastating against synthetic enemies. Overload and Hacking are especially lethal, as the one can overload a synthetic's systems and shielding, while the other can actually overcome the AI's programming and cause it to fight on your side. Tech abilities are not as powerful against organic enemies except in the case that an organic enemy is protected by a shield. The Overload tech is excellent for bringing down the shield and opening up the organic to return fire.

Biotic Abilities

Biotic abilities are suited for use against organic and synthetic enemies alike. They are generally most useful against unshielded targets, however, and will not usually work against any enemy that is sporting a tech shield. Some Biotic abilities, such as Warp, are especially useful against armored targets, as they cause heavy damage to armor while not being particularly effective against shields or unarmored enemies. Biotic abilities like "Throw" or "Push" are equally as useful as they can throw an enemy back or cause him to float toward you in the air, giving you some breathing room or presenting an easy target.

Bullets

Every enemy, whether organic or synthetic, has a fatal allergy to bullets. The Soldier class has access to several bullet powers -- such as "flame ammo" or "Warp Ammo" -- that can come in handy in almost any situation. Warp Ammo, for instance, is deadly against Biotic barriers or armored targets, while Disuptor Ammo is lethal against synthetics.

Head Shots

The head is a universal weak point in every enemy you encounter. A head shot will do extra damage and may cause the target to become disoriented or stumble back, buying you an extra moment or two to line up another shot. Even synthetic or mechanical foes are not immune to the head shot weakness, though certain synthetics will explode violently if killed by a head shot, so make sure you are at a safe distance when you pull the trigger.
