Creative Things To Make At A Baby Shower

Incorporate crafts into your baby shower to get your guests involved.

To have a successful and fun baby shower, incorporate creative crafts into the party. If you know the sex of your baby, you may want to come up with craft ideas that are tailored to certain colors or interests. Keep in mind that your guests may not all be parents, though --- choose crafts that are versatile and will appeal to all of your guests. Does this Spark an idea?

Soap

Soap is a fun and relatively inexpensive craft that can be done in any home. Purchase the materials for making soap, which will include unscented, white soap as the base and any colored dyes and scents of your choice. You may also want to purchase soap molds, which come in a variety of shapes, including that of animals. Since it is a baby shower, you may want to purchase molds that are in the shapes of ducks or baby blocks. Allow your guests to take the soaps that they make home with them as party favors.

Candles

To make candles, the process is very similar to that of making soaps. You can even use the same molds for candles as you did for the soaps. Purchase basic wax and fragrance oil to make a variety of scented candles that you can light at the baby shower or take home as party favors.

Ceramics

Making ceramics is a great craft for baby showers that is best for more experienced craft people, because it takes some time, patience and skill. Provide guests with clay in order to make pots, relics or baby blocks. Personalize the clay with etches of names or images related to babies. Bake the clay items in an oven and then allow the guests to paint or glaze their ceramics.

Baby Quilt Keepsake

A baby quilt keepsake is a craft intended to bring everyone together at a baby shower. Everyone is given a small, square piece of fabric and may write a message to the baby with a fabric marker or draw something special. After the shower, have a seamstress sew all of the squares together to make a quilt for the baby, or do it yourself, if you feel that you have the necessary skill level. Take a picture of the quilt and send it out to all of your guests so they can see the finished product of their baby shower craft session.
