Fix The Bridge On Eyeglasses

The bridge is the part of the glasses that rests on your nose.

You can fix the bridge of your glasses -- the part that sits on your nose -- with things that you usually keep at home. Repairing an eyeglass bridge is a simple and quick repair but it is important to keep in mind that the fix is a temporary remedy until the frame is replaced.

Instructions

Repairing a Bridge on a Frame

1. Start with a clean frame. Wipe or scrape off any debris or dried glue from previous repairs; use a fingernail or toothpick to pick off dried glue. Opticianworks.com notes that quick set glue is used to temporarily repair plastic frames that split or crack at the bridge.

2. Apply one or two drops of adhesive to one side of the broken edge of the bridge. Match up the other piece and hold the two pieces together, being careful not to move the pieces, for at least 30 to 60 seconds. Place the frame gently on a flat surface and allow the glue to dry for 5 to 10 minutes.

3. Use tape to reinforce the repair if necessary. Sometimes glue alone will not hold a plastic bridge together. Wrap any type of tape that is smaller than the width of the bridge. Clear tape, duct tape or masking tape all work fine; however, clear tape is the least obvious. Wrap the tape around the bridge several times, overlapping each layer slightly.
