Different Designs For Crown Moulding Around Corners

Crown mouldings are single-piece mouldings that are installed on an angle, connecting to both the ceiling and the wall. When it comes to corners, crown moulding can present quite a challenge for a do-it-yourselfer. Thankfully, manufacturers of crown moulding have made things easier by creating pre-made corners. Many different designs for inner and outer corners can be found wherever crown moulding is sold. Does this Spark an idea?

Crown Corner Blocks

To avoid difficult miter cuts and coping, the option of installing crown corner blocks presents itself. Install a block on the end of a wall and square cut the ends of the moulding to butt right up against the block.

Pre-Made Corners

Corners can also be trimmed out using pre-cut corners that match the crown moulding along the ceiling. Another option is to use your choice of prefabricated designer corners. This type of corner comes in many shapes and sizes to meet almost anyone's taste. In some cases, corners are designed to go with certain moulding designs while others are universal.

Other Pieces

Inner corners are just as easily found pre-made as are outer corners. You can choose to use a matching inner corner or something completely different. Long walls will require the splicing of two or more pieces of moulding. To avoid these miter cuts, crown moulding manufacturers have created center pieces. Center pieces are typically square and may come with or without decorative features. Flat cut ends of the moulding butt up to each side of the center piece, creating a seamless and professionally installed look.
