Donate Used Furniture In Denver

Donating your furniture is an excellent way to help others.

If you live in or near Denver, Colorado and you upgrade your furniture, you can donate your used furniture. This is a great way to get rid of your old furniture and help others in need at the same time. Before donating, inspect your furniture to ensure it is in good enough condition for reuse. Also, keep in mind that many donation places can provide you with a receipt, so you can write off the donation as a tax deduction. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Contact local charity groups such as The Salvation Army, Goodwill or Colorado-based Arc Thrift Stores. These groups take donations of furniture, clean them up and resell them at a minimal cost. Although these places do sell your donations, the money goes back into the community and benefits those in need. This means your donation will help others in your community twice.

2. Call local churches or community organizers in your area such as Habitat for Humanity. Many churches in Denver have community outreach programs such as "The Gabriel Project," where they provide families in need with items such as furniture. The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Denver, run by the Catholic Church, donates to the needy as well. Habitat for Humanity builds houses for low-income families and they are always in need of furniture to help furnish those homes; the Denver affiliate of the HFH has two outlet locations for donations. You can contact the Denver Outlet at 303-722-5863 to schedule a pickup of your donations.

3. List the items on websites such as Craigslist.com, Freecycle.com or Free Stuff.com and you can choose the person you would like to donate your furniture to. This allows you to know where your furniture goes and ensures your old furniture will be put to good use. To donate via the Denver Freecycle chapter, you must be accepted into the group via the website.
