Get A Screen Shot Of A Website

Sometimes it becomes necessary to get a screen shot of the website or Web page you are viewing to explain what is happening on the screen to tech support personnel or a client. There is plenty of software on the Web that can do this job but both the Windows and Mac OS X operating system platforms have built-in free tools for making a quick and easy screen shot. Once you have created one you can print, email or save it to an external storage media.

Instructions

Windows

1. Click the opened Web page anywhere in a blank space to make the Web browser window active.

2. Press the "Alt" and "Print Screen" ("PrtScrn" depending on what type of keyboard you have) buttons to copy the screen shot to the Clipboard.

3. Open any image processing software, such as "Paint" ("Start" menu, "All Programs," "Accessories" then "Paint"), right click anywhere in a blank space within the new window and select "Paste."

4. Print or save the screen shot as a regular file, or make any necessary adjustments as needed and then print or save.

Mac OS X

5. Click the opened Web page anywhere in a blank space to make the Web browser window active.

6. Press the "Control," "Command," "Shift" and "4" keys at the same time to copy the screen shot to the Clipboard.

7. Open any image processing software and press the "Command" and "V" keys to paste the image.

8. Print or save the screen shot as a regular file, or make necessary adjustments as needed and then print or save.
