Estimate The Size For A Storage Unit

Before you rent a storage unit, first figure out how much size you need.


If you're moving, or if you just need a spot to store some of your belongings, the first thing you need to know is how big a storage unit you require. The process is all about educated guesses, but with a few basic guidelines you can get close to the exact size storage space you need. 1. Determine which room you want to empty out. Or gather together all the items you want to put into storage. Measure two sides of the room or items. Record the numbers in feet.


2. Enter the first measurement into your calculator. Tap the multiplication key. Enter the second measurement. Tap the enter key to get the results in square footage. For example, the room measures 15 feet by 10 feet, so the result is 150 square feet.


3. Go to the website of your preferred storage facility and check their available sizes. Select the unit that's closest to your total square feet.
