Your discarded tapes may be new and useful to someone else.
Christian cassette and videotapes are useful to individuals, places of worship and faith-based organizations and charities. Christian tapes may have to do with Bible teachings or practical subjects like child-rearing, marriage and personal conduct. They may be musical or educational in nature, or geared toward entertaining children, adults or the entire family. Explore your community to find out who may be interested in your unneeded Christian tapes; your donation will be appreciated and enjoyed by the recipient.
Instructions
1. Contact your local Christian church to inquire about their protocol for accepting donations. Whether or not you are a member, you should be able to contribute freely to the congregation. The church may choose to make use of your tapes during sermons, presentations and community and youth gatherings. Some churches have libraries of books and tapes used by the clergy and staff for private study and reflection. Ask church representatives where your tapes would be most useful.
2. Gather with fellow church members to start a new outreach program that includes the donating of goods to the general public. Once you collect enough books and tapes from the church community, you can make the items available and free-of-charge for families who enter the building. You can openly advertise the free marketplace, or you may keep the materials in a sort of pantry for needy individuals. As additional churchgoers continue to donate their own goods, the library will expand. This is an effective way to gift individual people with your tapes.
3. Visit a local hospital, nursing home or faith-based nonprofit organization that deals with people on a daily basis, and ask them to accept your Christian tapes as a free donation. Your gift may even be tax deductible depending on the policies of your chosen charity. Donate your tapes to be sold inexpensively in thrift stores by dropping them off at a neighborhood Salvation Army or Goodwill. This is a good way to contribute to the financial success of charities that serve communities on a large scale.
4. Collect all of your tapes in a box and drop them off at a public library or religiously affiliated school during operating hours. Call in advance to make sure that donations are indeed accepted and that they could use additional media materials. More likely than not, your contribution will be needed and very much appreciated. Keep the library staff information in mind for future donations. You may be able to contribute significantly to the selection of supplies in area libraries over the years.
