Donate Books To Liberia

Donate books overseas.

Liberia, a country on the west coast of Africa, is one of the world's poorest countries; its citizens subsist on less than $1 a day. In the wake of a 14-year civil war, Liberia's government struggles to rebuild its infrastructure. Several nonprofit organizations collect donations, such as books, for the Liberian people to aid in the country's reconstruction of educational programs.

Instructions

1. Collect gently used books to donate. Sort through your donations and separate by category as certain organizations are specific about the books they accept.

2. Donate books by shipping to foundations directly. Books for Africa and the Liberian Development Foundation both accept shipments to their facilities.

3. Deliver books to the American Library Association (ALA). Many organizations listed on the ALA website distribute books overseas at no cost to the donating person. Visit their website for a complete listing of books and periodicals needed.
