Grants From Sears

The Sears company gives many grants and donations to charities and individuals.

The Sears company is one of the largest retail companies in the world, with stores like Kmart and brands like Craftsman, Kenmore and Land's End. Sears is also very involved in local and national projects to improve the quality of life for all of its customers and those who live in areas where Sears has a presence. It gives grants and donations given every year to many different causes.

Heroes at Home

The Sears company has partnered with a nonprofit group called Rebuilding Together to create the Heroes at Home program, an initiative that helps military families in need of assistance. Knowing the sacrifices that veterans have made for America, Sears, through this program, provides grants and physical assistance to those veterans and their families in need of a home, or repairs and additions to their existing homes. Providing handicap accessibility to those who were injured in service and creating a wish list of items for the families of military members are among the many services of the Heroes at Home Program.

Military Support

Sears is part of the Army Spouse Employment Partnership, which provides jobs to the spouses of those in the military. Sears also works to employ veterans upon their return to the private sector. Operation Purple is another Sears program that provides grants of $2.5 million to the National Military Family Association to develop and run summer camps for children of wounded and disabled veterans.

Kmart for Kids

Sears owns the Kmart stores and through its Kmart for Kids program has provided more than $70 million since 1984 to charitable organizations. With the goal of improving the health and well-being of children across the nation, the Kmart for Kids program has given grants to organizations that focus on children, such as March of Dimes, the American Diabetes Association and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Grants and donations to local nonprofit groups are also part of the work of this program.
