Camping At Bluff Valley Campground Minnesota

The owners of Bluff Valley Campground in southeastern Minnesota say "every day is Saturday," and they work very hard to make that a reality for anyone staying at their resort recreation area. From rafting and fishing on the Zumbro River to hiking and biking the trails that crisscross the property, Bluff Valley Campground offers a complete vacation experience during its annual season, which runs from April 15 through the end of September.

Campsites

Bluff Valley Campground has 275 tent and RV sites, all of which have water and electrical hookups. About 100 of the sites are on the river, with the rest spread out along the bluffs and in the woods. As of 2010, daily campsite rates range between $42 and $49, with weekly rates between $252 and $294; seasonal rates are also available for longer stays. You have to be 21 to rent a campsite.

Water Activities

Situated on the Zumbro River, Bluff Valley Campground offers a variety of water activities. You can raft or canoe on the river, or rent inner tubes for a lazy float on the water. For those who enjoy casting a line to see what's biting, there are fishing spots along the river bank. If you prefer being in the water, you can jump in the river from one of the swimming beaches, or you can enjoy the campground's heated outdoor pool.

Land Activities

Bluff Valley Campground has its own 250-yard driving range, as well as a 9-hole mini golf course. Basketball, volleyball, croquet and horse shoes are available at the campground, and there are three separate playgrounds for kids. You can check out board games and movies simply by leaving a valid driver's license, and books are available at the exchange library, where the only rule is "take one, bring one, exchange one." For the artistically inclined, there's a ceramic studio.

Food and Entertainment

Bluff Valley Campground's Snack Shack is open seven days a week (the same hours as the convenience store). The Homestyle Grill is open on Friday and Saturday nights, and a pancake breakfast is served up on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Cartoons are shown each morning in the clubhouse, and movies are screened in the evenings. Live entertainment is scheduled regularly, often provided by local musicians and other performers.

Special Events

After the season closes, the campground stages a light maze and drive-through light show every night except Monday and Tuesday, from mid-October until the end of November. The maze is billed as "the only light maze in the world," and the light show is over a mile long, with 19 theme areas and over 450 displays. The campground also offers a nightly dinner buffet, and it provides entertainment performed by local high-school students.
