Adjust Curtain Rods To Fit

Slide curtains back to allow light into your room.

Adjustable curtain rods make decorating a window of almost any size a simple job. Use sliding, adjusting rods at a small kitchen window or in larger rooms such as a living room. Whether you're hanging a valance or several panels of drapes, these kinds of curtain rods make controlling light and temperature much easier. Take your curtain rods with you if you move, as adjustable rods enlarge and shrink with just a few simple movements. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Screw in the rod brackets on either side of the window. The brackets should be outside of and above the windows.

2. Pull the rod pole apart. Gently pull the curtains over the rod pieces. If using two curtain panels, place one on each side of the rod pieces.

3. Line up the two rounded ends of the poles, sliding the smaller one into the larger one.

4. Place the curved end of the pole bracket into the left bracket mount. You may need an extra pair of hands to hold the opposite end if the curtain is more than an arm-span long.

5. Slide the right end of the rod toward the right bracket mount, adjusting the length of the rod. Push the curved end of the pole bracket into the right bracket mount.

6. Fluff the curtains and arrange them evenly along the rod.
