Often, people will get new beds and throw their old mattresses outside to the curb for the morning's garbage collection to pick up. However, there are many people who could use these mattresses. Although Seattle Goodwill does not accept donations of mattresses, there are other places in Seattle where people can take their old mattresses and donate them to charitable and goodwill organizations.
Instructions
1. Clean the mattress that you wish to donate, making sure that it has no visible stains or tears in it. Some organizations will not accept any stained or damaged mattresses.
2. Call The Sharehouse, a charity organization based in Seattle, to discuss donating your mattress to them. Since they accept donations of a wide range of household appliances and furniture, they will arrange for a pick-up of larger items, such as mattresses.
3. Call the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army does pick-ups in Seattle and accepts donations of large furniture items such as mattresses.
