The marine industry is a world onto its own, with jobs ranging from research to being a cook on a ship. Much like any other industry, there are entry-level positions for people with no education and no experience under their belts as well as for highly specialized professionals. Decide what arm of the marine world you want to work in and then go about securing a job through training, education or by starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Find Work with No Experience
Sail the open seas by becoming a greenhorn on a fishing vessel. This takes strength and endurance and is a hands-on training position. There is nowhere to train for this except on the deck while doing it. If the work is just too tough, you can sign on as a cook on one of these vessels.

Find Work While Getting Education
Positions both on and off the water are available for people to stock and feed fish, clean and other work that entails getting dirty for the various marine institutes. Many researchers started off this way and then went on to school to get the education to fill a research position. Find Work After Education
Graduate from college with a degree in marine biology, engineering, science and any of the other areas of marine study. Set about applying for a position in your field through a college career development department. Do your own research into the areas of your interest that you are qualified for and send out resumes to the institutes and businesses that offer work in this area.
