Decorate A Home In Craftsman Style

The Craftsman style was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement that followed the Victorian era. Craftsman-style homes are also often referred to as bungalows. If you want to decorate your home in Craftsman style, you can incorporate a few simple decor techniques that will transform your home to represent the style. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose colors for your interior paint that come from any shade of a sunrise or sunset. The entire range represents craftsman style--from yellows, oranges, reds, browns to soft shades of blue or purple.

2. Use solid pieces of wood furniture in the house. The lines should be clean and simple with no ornate decoration. They should have a handcrafted look.

3. Install wood paneling around the bottom of the walls, as well as up the side edges and across the top of the walls. Proper craftsman style borders are made of ash, elm, chestnut, oak, redwood or cypress.

4. Arrange the furniture so that the rooms are open and uncluttered. Craftsman bungalows often had an open floor plan.

5. Look for Craftsman reproduction standing or table lamps. These often have simple geometric forms and may utilize stained glass.
