Add accessories to a built-in entertainment center.
Built-in entertainment centers may cover an entire living room wall, sit in a corner or take up only a small section of the wall. This useful feature saves you from having to purchase your own media storage area. Instead of leaving large bare areas in the built-in entertainment center, utilize the unused space for decorating. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Paint the entertainment center in a shade lighter or darker than the wall color of the rest of the room, to make it stand out.
2. Place all of your electronic elements in the entertainment center before decorating. If the devices have long, bulky cords, use cord keepers to bundle the wires together and hide them as much as possible. Snap the wires into a cord cover, a hollow tube that conceals electrical wires.
3. Avoid cluttering the shelves with DVD and CD cases, as this can quickly overwhelm the entertainment center. Store these items in a canvas binder with sleeves for each disc. Place the binder on a shelf for easy access. If you don't want to part with the cases, install cabinet doors or cover some shelf space with a small curtain to hide them from view.
4. Fill additional shelf space on the built-in unit, but be careful not to clutter it up. Select small decorative accessories that fit with the existing d cor in the room. Display the same items on either side of the TV for a mirror image look or use different items for an eclectic feel. Place items such as framed pictures, vases, figurines, artwork, potted plants or whatever you prefer.
