Create Your Own Space In "Smallworlds"

"

SmallWorlds" players can design and share their private spaces with other users.

The casual gaming site "SmallWorlds" is a browser-based virtual world where players aged 13 and up can socialize, paint, stream media, battle with magic and engage in other activities. You can create up to five avatars on a single account, each of which is allocated a free starter space. A large selection of wallpapers, floor patterns, lighting and atmospheric themes allows players to customize the interior of personal spaces. "SmallWorlds" also offers shopping venues with furniture and accessories ranging from contemporary to space age to ancient Egyptian. User-created rooms that combine creative design features, special effects and an inventive concept often are chosen to be featured spaces.

Instructions

Create/Edit Space

1. Log into your "SmallWorlds" account and click "Enter World." The avatar automatically teleports to the home space if you have already created one. Choose a different space by scrolling through the images on the "My Places" panel.

2. Click "My Place" if you have a new account. Select a room layout. Continue to the next page.

3. Select the wrench icon listed next to your space name. Type a custom name and description in the text boxes.

4. Open the "Options" tab. Use the arrows to set a maximum visitor capacity for the space. Choose the direction the space will face and check the appropriate box to allow or deny entry to pets.

5. Select wall and floor patterns from the "D cor" section. Different sections of the same space can be decorated with individual patterns.

6. Open the "Theme" tab and select an optional atmosphere from the drop-down menu, such as "Fire & Ice," "Frost Moon" or "Terraformed." Depending on the type of space you are using, these settings affect the landscape, climate and the appearance of certain furnishings.

7. Select a lighting option from the drop-down list. Choose "Day Cycle" if you want the space lighting to change on an hourly cycle. Choose "Time of Day" to select a specific time, and then select "Force Lighting." Click a thumbnail to apply a color-tinted lighting theme.

8. Add a friend as a member from the "Members" tab by typing the name into the search box. Only players on your friends list can be added. You also can deny any player from entering the space under the "Ban" tab.

9. Set access preferences in the "Security" section. Enable one of the options under "Access Permissions" to limit entry into your space, such as members only or password protected. Uncheck the box next to "Show in Places Panel" if you want to prevent other users from finding your space in a search. Save all changes.

Furnish Space

10. Click the sack icon on the navigation bar to open your inventory. Click on an item and drag it into the space. The item will drop into the room automatically. The drag-and-drop cursor will turn red if the item doesn't fit in the spot where you want to place it.

11. Click on an item and select the directional arrow to move the item to another spot in the space. Items such as graffiti boards, Twitter boards and Flickr posters can be hung only on the walls.

12. Select the camera icon in the top-left corner of the screen to take a snapshot of the completed space. This image will appear under the space name in the "Places" panel.
